Flying in over the game-spoilt
wetlands to Caprivi's private air strip, I imagine which ease I enjoy compared to the
early explorers to reach this untouched African beauty. Friendly staff welcome me with an
ice cold freshly squeezed fruit juice while I absorb the exhalerating surroundings. My
view is dominated by the mystic Linyanti river where hippos and crocodiles challenge my
attention. Built on the banks of the river and on the edge of Chobe & Mamili National
Park, Caprivi Lodge reflects the classic style and spirit of
Africa in the old days. The sense of style and detail is unprecedented,
while the magnificient views are omnipresent, even my loo has a riverview! |
While
I cool down in the pool, a staff member comes to show me a herd of elephants who refresh
themselves at the opposite side of the river. After enjoying my sundowner gin & tonic
browsing in the library, I taste the wonderful french-cooked dinner while the nightly bush
life is wakening. Zipping my cognac, I wonder what will exhalerate me most tomorrow: the
morning game drive, the water safari or the Victoria Falls.
Caprivi Lodge is delighted to host you in the unspoilt northeastern
Caprivi strip of Namibia, a country almost the size of France and Germany together with a
population of only 1.4 million. This splendid tranquility hosts one of the widest
diversities of game available in Africa.
Like the Okavango, Linyanti river rises in the Angolan highlands to
share its waters with the wilderness of Namibia's Caprivi and northern Botswana.
Linyanti stretches through huge open plains and Mopane forests to
link up with the Okavango Delta. This area is crossed for centuries by buffalo, elephants
and wildebeest which move between the Okavango Delta, Chobe and the Linyanti wetlands
around Caprivi Lodge.
